In RE1 you can see a letter adressed to "Ada" signed by "John"
Is this just a concidense?
it might even be a C-O-I-N-C-I-D-E-N-C-E.

To answer the original question, no it is not a coincidence. It's intentional as it refers to the same Ada in both games.
