"Cast Away" connection

When Zemeckis was making "Cast Away," they needed time in the middle for Tom Hanks to lose weight and change into the thin, island-dweller after 'four years,' so he made this pile. That is why this flick feels so rushed and incomplete.

WHAT LIES BENEATH: 3/10
CAST AWAY: 9/10

WLB: 6/10 Better than most would say but pushed the envelope on is he dead or not a couple times too often.
CA: 8/10 Very good but the relationship between Hanks and Hunt was unbelievable from the beginning.

This was an amazing movie! Probably the best supernatural ghost movie I've seen (behind The Conjuring 2)

I always wonder if it was planned that way from the beginning or did Zemeckis decide "Well I've got this crew here that I have to pay anyway" and just reach into a pile and pulled this script out of it.

While I disagree with most everyone else on here, and actually liked this movie, I got to admit, the visual of Zemeckis just pulling a script from a plie is pretty funny.

What felt ‘rushed an incomplete’ about it?

reply

Yeah I heard the same story from Zemeckis in person.
He said something like he had to make this total turd to finish Cast Away, I don't remember if he said something like it was part of his contract.

Zemeckis doing a movie on auto-pilot is better than 95% of other filmmakers trying their best.

It was ok.
