What am I missing?
So I was 13 when this movie came out and I didn't love it ESPECIALLY compared to 10 Things I Hate About You which had a better plot, it flowed a lot better and the chemistry was also better. Also Heath Ledger is hotter, he basically shaped all I ever wanted in a man for my entire life, even now. #truestory
But now I'm wondering if I'm missing some deeper level of this movie.
Why is it so popular?
The scene where Laney puts make-up on her "weird friend" at the party. Is that supposed to mean something? Is it just her getting back at her for telling her she should commit suicide?
Ok, for example I actually really like the scene when Freddy Prince Jr. is on the stage trying not to drop the hackysac, it's probably my favorite scene.
And I know Laney is this dark artist.
And I just had this epiphany that maybe I just never "GOT" this movie.
Maybe I was too young when it came out?
Maybe there's a deeper art indie level??
Or is this movie just a copycat of 10 Things I Hate About You with a "school DJ" (because that's a real thing)??
Thoughts?
