Like a 90 min 'wonder years' epi / winnie cooper kills herself...

i wanted to see this movie for a long time. (spoiler alert approaching-warning) i thought it would be truly atmospheric and haunting, hazy, mysterious. but this is sophomoric tripe that makes me think that I could write a movie. i KNOW a movie is bad, when i feel i can easily improve on it. If there is a theme or a message to this movie, it is this: "teenage females can be very effervescently beautiful." i have no reason to care about any of these characters. the girls mostly sit around looking pretty. the boys have no impact, they are just 5 boys with sweet and innocent expressions on their faces for the most part. one of them looks 11 or 12 for some reason. the last 4 sisters, all look 17.
the boys are still wondering what happened and trying to solve the mystery. im sure they are, that's because there is no solution. its just a dumn plot contrivance that makes no logical sense. "hey girls, the boys are waiting for us in the living room, they want to take us for a late night cruise. lets all kill ourselves in various ways. one of you should stick your head in the oven. im sure they wont hear anything or smell any kind of gas smell in the air. i'll sneak into the garage and attach a hose to the tail pipe and sit in the car for 30 minutes or so......"etc etc,
