Why the focus on Lux?

I don't understand why all the focus was on Lux. I haven't read the book, so maybe the reason why all the close-up montages of her and not the other girls is explained in the book. I felt like the director was so focused on Lux that I literally don't know which one was Therese and which one was Bonnie because aside from the introduction at the beginning they were rarely treated like two individual characters. It seemed like it was Cecilia, Lux, and the "other" sisters and I didn't understand that.

I mean I admit that Kirsten Dunst probably looked better in the movie than any other that she made, but it seemed a little obsessive. I wanted to know more about the others.

Does the novel explain this? Is she the narrator or is it written in third person?

My interpretation (from the movie only) is that the lack of distinction between the girls was on purpose. Remember, this movie is from the POV of the boys. These boys didn't know these girls at all. They were just a gaggle of blond goddesses to them. Exalted princesses that they could only piece together very superficial information about. They weren't individuals in terms of the boys obsession. They were just the "Lisbon sisters", who's adolescent fantasies the boys projected onto.
