Joe, the boy with down's syndrome arrives at their house party. The other boys make a spectacle of him. Then Cecelia goes upstairs and jumps out the window.
What is going on? Was Cecelia so put off by the behaviour of the boys toward Joe that she lost what little hope she had left? Why did the other boys have visions of her after?

I don't think the boys made a spectacle of him. They were happy to see him.....Maybe they know him from the neighbourhood, but because of his condition he didn't come out much? I think they were just being playful.
I think Cecilia was depressed and unhappy and was planning on killing herself anyway.....the party was an attempt to make Cecelia happy but I think she just felt that she needed to end it, if that was what fun was then it didn't make a difference to how she felt, as she still felt unhappy
