I really tried to but just could not find anything good about it. After watching Alison Elliott's brillant performance in Wings of the Dove, I decided to check this one out. I WILL never figure out why she took this role.....
shareI liked it- I thought it was really funny in parts. Especially when her husband did the Christopher Walken impression. I don't get how the review says that the story was not understandable. I understoode it and even found it predictable.

I like it quite a bit, even own it, but it's one for which I had to let go of some things, like expectations concerning C.Walken's usual acting traits. For example, I think of his acting as eccentric because I think of *him* as eccentric. For this movie, however, I had to think of him as someone who started out as approaching "normal" and went over the wall with his obsession (if I recall correctly). And, too, I think it helps to be somewhat familiar with very dark folk tales. Catch some old Irish lore (on the horror side) then try this movie again, and see if that helps. Good luck!

I loved this movie...but A) I'm a bit odd; B) I'm partial to slow, character-focus horror films; C) I know a bit about Irish culture and liked the representation here; D) As some wise man said, There's no arguing taste. That last point may be the most important, and probably the most ignored by IMDb users. Many people use music and movies to define themselves, and take it personally when others hate what they love. It IS hard to imagine, but two opposite points of view can both be valid...

Sorry, I thought it was rubbish. Sluggish and slow. When all hell seemed to be descending on the characters, most of them were either sitting in a trance or reaching for the nearest bottle. There was no sense of urgency to the action. Was hoping for better things with actors of the calibre of Walken and Lois Smith in the cast, but they had very little to do.
Very handy that an unmentioned gardener should just happen to show up at the right moment too.
Reading about the film, I suspected that an indie mummy movie would be a difficult thing to pull off. I was right.

Maybe she took it because she got to play a double role. I don't know.
Over all the movie was pretty crappy, but Alison Elliot was brilliant as always. I wish she would do more films.

I thought it was interesting, but kind of boring during a lot of parts and really, really weird. The characters to me were all either incredibly strange, incredibly stupid, or incredibly annoying, in some cases all three. The movie had some beautiful moments too, but they were dragged down impossibly far by the rest of the film.
