America has become less violent

I saw this documentary today and i thought it was very good and interesting, the statistics of how violent and how bad America was in the earlier decades is pretty shocking, especially throughout the 70's and 80's America was very violent and one of the things the narrator mentioned was how there were 27,000 murders each year in America and that was up until 1982, but America now has become much less violent and much safer and murders shootings massacres serial killings have all become alot less common especially when you look at the murder rate of America today which is only 4 per 100,000 and there are now on average 16,000 murders a year in America so as you can clearly see the murder rate in America has gone way down and violent crime in America has gone down by 60 percent and violent crime in America is at it's all time lowest in 30 years.

Other developed countries however such as Australia New Zealand Canada Finland France Germany United Kingdom Ireland Japan Belgium and Sweden however have become more violent over the years and are continuing to become more violent aswell and it would be good and interesting to see documentaries made about how increasingly more violent those countries have become.

beachbum 84 mentioned other devolped countries are getting more violent such as Australia. Well I disagree being a aussie i havent noticed any increase in violence it was much worse in the 70s 80s but 90s and 2000s have been much more safer.

Yet they are all still significantly safer places to live than the USA.

You could count the uk murders per year on one hand, and yes murder rate has fallen in the US but...... Common it is still ridiculous, right?

reply

No you couldn't.

4.7 vs 1.2 murders per 100000 people.

I don't know what you are talking about in regards to those countries you listed as becoming more violent. I think you are projecting, and not really interested in facing the truth about the United States. All those non-United States countries listed have murder rates ranging from 0.3 to 1.6 murders per 100,000 population. Canada actually has a murder rate that contrasts the United States, by 1.4 murders per 100,000. How anyone can stand around and say that the United States has a murder rate of only 4 per 100,000 people, and seem happy about it, is beyond me.

I grew up in the 1980s, and 1990s. I remember that was back in the day when the United States had a murder rate of about 9 to 10 murders per 100,000. My country of Australia had a peak murder rate of 2 per 100,000. This was all because some dropkick decided to bump up the murder rate by killing 35 innocent people. But that was then, and the murder rate is about 1 per 100,000. Hardly the result of increased crime rates. If anything, other crime statistics seem to be going down in my country.

The countries you mention in your second paragraph have become (or most of them) as multicultural as America...
