This defnitely needs a sequel

35 years on and the killing has just continued on...9/11, Columbine, Virgina Tech, Ferguson, LA Riots, Sandy Hook, Batman cinema shootout......list goes on. Actually it could easily be as many parts as Police Academy and Friday the 13th there is that much to cover. I guess the only thing that has dropped are serial killings.

Actually, violent crime has been in steady decline. Studies have shown, however, that coverage of crime has skyrocketed.

Check out the book The Better Angels of Our Nature.

I have read Pinker's book actually. I am not against the fact that violence has declined, just that a lot has happened since 1981 and it requires a sequel. Sure, homicides have come down since then, but the spree killings have continued on and have been more murderous. What Pinker doesnt take into account are lone wolves causing maximum damage, they will always present a problem in the future especially with technology increasing.

Agreed. The sickness of random and widespread gratuitous violence in America has only become worse in the last fifteen years. A sequel could easily cover all that stuff and more.

I've been chasing grace/ But grace ain't easy to find
