Think They'll Fix the Awful 20 Year "We Drifted Apart" Gap?

I mean that just made no sense what's so ever when the show was about two characters who knew each other inside out suddenly waking up one morning and find that they just don't have the time or effort to hang out with each other anymore.

If there was a revival then what could they do without contradicting the ending that they never spoke to one enough for 20 years? If they squeeze in a one off during that gap then they obviously did make up again and would nullify the ending that they've never seen each other once in that huge gap. However if they set it after the ending then they are going to have to look much older, I mean yes it's been 10 years now so they'd only have to look another 10 years older but I don't want to see their kids in the show, I want the focus to be on Will, Grace, Karen and Jack.

Only thing I can think of is if the 20 year gap was just a "What if" scenario.

I adore the finale and I am hoping any new material doesn't override or contradict it.

That's why even though this news should make me nothing but excited, it actually makes me a little worried.

Although, I was high when I watched this.

I have my own issues with the finale, but I also hate continuity errors so I'd have mixed feelings if they decides to chop and change it.
But let's be real, we're all very lucky to have this - be it a reunion or even a revival - especially after years of radio silence.
I'm just happy to have this awesome foursome back in my life.

I just made a post defending the finale in the thread "Just as wrong as HIMYM finale!" that you should check out.

I used to not like the finale but now I love it. It really is beautiful.

It was beautiful, and I'd say I was at least 70% happy with how they ended it. Certain parts I found a little unrealistic, but I recognize that they wanted to end with a sense of closure between the two lead characters because it's more dramatic that way. And I respect that. It's nowhere NEAR as bad as HIMYM, lol. HIMYM was deplorable.
And unlike HIMYM, I'm totally okay with the couples that ended up together. I mean, I'm "meh" on Grace and Leo, I'm just really really glad the show didn't end with Will and Grace raising a baby together. I would've hated that.

Agreed on that one!

I don't know how I feel about Grace and Leo. Their relationship is very complicated but I think that's realistic. She listened to her heart and not her head which I also think is realistic to the character.

Which parts? Just curious.

Well I totally understand why Will and Grace didn't speak for the first couple of years (she was in Rome, and they were still mad at each other) but after they reconciled, they just...didn't speak to each other for 20 years, despite both living in NYC? I would've understood if they'd drifted apart, maybe not seen each other quite as much, but after years of having a co-dependent relationship and then suddenly not being in each others' lives at all seemed a little off to me.

I'm learning to appreciate the finale more and more, though, and I like it a lot more than I used to.

Yea I guess you can look at it both ways. People come and go and no matter how much you love someone, sometimes your lives take you in different directions. This has happened in my own life but I'm a believer that this is natural and if it's meant to be those people will find their way back into our lives as effortlessly as they did the first time. I think it's a lot less realistic today because of social media but it works in the show.

Also, the two of them not talking for 20 years was more of a convenience for the writers than anything else. They wanted to have Lila and Ben meet for the first time as adults, not knowing their parents history. This makes them meeting and falling in love look like destiny. If Will and Grace made up when their kids were young they would've known each other their whole lives and been more like cousins.

I like it better every time I watch it too! I honestly think some people don't see the important plot points and nuances which is unfortunate.
