The 'Perfect Blue' / 'Requiem for a Dream' Connection
I posted this many years back in the IMDB forums but thought someone might find it interesting today (I recently rewatched Perfect Blue for probably the 5th or 6th time since its very first release on VHS in the U.S. and thought of this). The short of it is that Aronofsky was so enamored by the superb and groundbreaking anime Perfect Blue, particularly the bathtub screaming scene, that he incorporated that scene, shot for shot, into Requiem for a Dream. In case anyone who didn't know that history might be interested, see the below URLs.

There's also clear shades of Perfect Blue in Black Swan, even though Aronofsky denies this.
