Did Rumi remind anyone else of.......

Mexican pop singer Selena's manager Yolanda Saldívar!?!? I found several parallels between the two, although Rumi is a very exaggerated version of someone w/ a personality disorder. Considering Selena passed in 1995 & this was made in 1998, it made me wonder if Selena's death had any effect in Japanese pop culture. Overall, in my opinion Perfect Blue is a great movie with so many underlying themes if your into Suspense Anime. I dont know why this movie confuses so many people, or why people fail to like it.

I believe that Perfect Blue was an adaptation of a book. Yolanda is definatly crazy but i don't think she is Rumi.

I THOUGHT OF THE EXACT SAME THING. great movie. i'm still thinking about how crazy it was. definitely didn't see it coming.

I can definitely see some parallels. Rumi reminds me a bit of Yolanda.

Yes!! I totally thought of her too. It reminded me of that case. Someone close and trusted turns out to be obsessed, psycho and dangerous. (They looked kinda similar too)

This movie was like Black Swan Inland Empire Selena all in one. (And yesm I know this was done before Black Swan or Inland Empire!)
