He suffered the most out of all the others. His arm gets bitten off and later, after he falls into the water still strapped to his stretcher, the sharks use him as a "battering ram" to break a window. The poor guy had it tough.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Come to Middle-Earth, a world beyond the furthest reaches of your imagination
Poor Jim? He was more guilty than Susan, and he was the one that began the cascade of things going wrong by smoking beside a genetically modified & enhanced sleeping shark. Who does that anyways? Jim's actions cost Chimera hundreds of millions of dollars, as well as endangered the lives of everyone at the facility in a matter of seconds.
- Jim fires up a smoke - Sits beside Shark - Shark wakes up and chops off arm - Jim's flaying about without an arm - "He's Hemmoraghing! We need medical!" - The Perfect Storm brewing outside, Helicopter on the way - Jim on the mobile bed, wrapped up and good to go - Helicopter picks up Jim, team goes downstairs back to the lab - Helicopter unable to tow in Jim due to random mechanical failure - Jim falls into the Deep Blue Sea - Genetically Modified & Enhanced Super Mako Shark grabs Jim and pulls - Helicopter being towed right into a very flammable segment of Aquatica - BOOM - Brenda first to die, explosions everywhere, fuel lines go off, massive tank goes off. - The team is downstairs back in the lab trying to look at security cameras, while debris is falling everywhere and the entire facility quakes. - Shark throws Jim into a window, window cracks up - No one moves and watches fist-sized chunks of glass flying out of the glass - No one moves and continues to watch poor Jim against the glass - Glass breaks - Water rushes in about as fast as a water hose, instead of how fast water would move 250 feet underwater in a small enclosed space. - The team quickly runs and leaves the room. - Jim's still wrapped up in the bed, still alive, but the team completely forgets about him and lets him drown in small enclosed space slowly filling up with water. - Jim's eyes turn red and he dies due to drowning.
And there you have it, facility is no longer manageable, all because of poor Jim, and no one cared about rescuing him.
So wait... are we supposed to assume that a little tobacco smoke is what caused the shark to suddenly wake up and attack? I am kind of asking seriously; despite the many times I have seen this movie over the years, that possibility never occurred to me. Just always struck me as a typical jump scare.
and then he blue himself and the crew up because the arrogant, son of a bitch, launched the torpedoes without safety measures too close to their own sub.
