Why Does This Film Get 1.5 Stars...

... On the TV Guide? What is up with that? I know ratings are essentially bogus, but giving this film a 1.5 out of 4 is just ridiculous. It used to get 2.5 before on the TV Guide. It's just frustrating to see because this is by far an above-average teen flick; in my opinion one of the best of the era. Even on IMDB, it gets a above a 7 and a Metascore of 70.

I rarely make threads like this, but continuing to see a rating of *1/2 is so annoying.

Who knows? I recall looking at the film's rating when I first discovered IMDb back in 2001. Back then, this film had a rating around the 5.2-ish range. I thought it was pretty underrated back then, and it still seems to be.

I don't put much credence into what TV Guide says about movies. Those folks know less about film than Michael Bay.

I noticed that on my DVR guide. That is just garbage. It is one of the better teen movies. I actually just watched it again last night. I did forget how much the director went way way overboard with the pop songs he put in. I realize that soundtracks do make money, but it was so excessive. I just wanted the movie to be quiet for just a sec without another pop song being played to tell us how to feel. That is my major beef with the film. But other than that it is a good film.

I have no idea. It's probably one of my favorite teen comedies. We saw it in the theatre, never seeing anything about it and not expecting much. We laughed so hard and was very pleased. I still enjoy watching it from time to time. (Good soundtrack too!)

Thank you! I see that rating every time it's on HBO and it drives me nuts. It's the most off-base rating I've seen on the guide.
