Kat flashing the teacher

I LOVE this movie but I felt this part was really stupid.
I don't get how it was funny and why all the students clapped for her. It's kind of really disturbing that she did that. If I was in that class, I would've felt uncomfortable. I understand she probably wasn't thinking at the moment and just needed something to distract him with but no one in their right mind would do that, especially with a teacher. Idk I just really hate that one part, but love everything else :)

I agree with you, that scene, well, it's just too awkward for us to see. Especially because I watched it with my mother and my teen brother. That's just laughably ludicrous, but the thing is that we didn't laugh.

This movie has been my favorite teen drama. It told me many things about being my own self, parent-kids relation, friendship, even sex and the danger of teen pregnancy, without making us feel like being lectured by our teachers. Parts when Kat, Bianca, and their father arguing, the boys gossiping Verona and later making deals with him, Verona singing Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You, well those scenes were brilliantly executed. And so many parts I found funny and lovable except that scene Kat flashing the teacher.

You're Americans, of course you don't want to see that. Here in Europe, it's totally ok. Doesn't mean it's an ordinary thing to do, but I guess it's not as awkward for us as it is for you. I love that scene.

reply

It's not an American thing it's an SJW thing. Old fashioned prudes who complain for the sake of complaining. It was funny. As was the teacher stealing the weed and Cheetos for later use.

reply

I laughed out loud when he thought for a moment and grabbed the Cheetos too!

reply

It's not a "SJW" kind of thing. "SJW"s tend to be open-minded and progressive. It's actually more of a Christian-Sharia kind of thing.

Typical conservative idiot can't get his insults correct.

Man, you crack me up. Best joke I've read in ages.

Agreed. "SJW"s are all for women empowerment (which I am too) and that's including body & sex positivity.

HAHAHAHAHA oh wait... youre serious

Jeez grow some balls chick
It was funny and cute
The world is real
Your assumed impropriety is not

reply

"grow some balls chick"

Because that makes perfect sense... 

reply

If I was that teacher I would have gave them a squeeze and slapped her on her rear.

reply

I'd have motor boated those things.

reply

I assumed people clapped because it was mostly guys in detention so of course they'd clap and cheer at a girl flashing her boobs. But I do agree it's a kind of cringey moment. The guidance counselor writing her book I always found kind of out of place too but I forgive because I love Allison Janney.

reply

Yeah that was weird but still funny. At least she was inappropriate by herself and not with her students.

reply

They clapped because she achieved her goal of distracting the teacher long enough for Patrick to escape out the window and she did it with flair!

reply

Flair? I don't see how flashing someone to distract them is considered flair. She still could've easily distracted him without flashing him.

reply

I hate the scene because the entire reason she was trying to distract the teacher was so that Heath Ledger could get out of detention.

But flashing a teacher is something that could have given Kat detention or suspended! It's not something a teacher, with over a dozen student witnesses, would just pretend never happened. Everyone would be talking about it at the school and Kat would have gotten some sort of punishment.

reply

That's a good point. Surely it would've gone around in the school over what happened and then Kat would've been in trouble. But I agree, I hate that scene as well. She still could've distracted him without flashing him. It was just unnecessary.
