Swings, Golf history and records.
A great movie, particularly for golfers. Good acting and haunting music.
Damon's swing didn't look great, however if he as I believe was not a golfer the coaches did a good job.
Bruce McGill (Walter Hagen) & Joel Gretch (Bob Jones) are obviously golfers as they both had decent swings. Both deserve plaudits, Joel does a good job at imitating Bob Jones text book swing, Bruce McGill also does a good job on Hagens less orthodox swing, I was particularly impressed with his finish as it looks very much like Hagens finish. Top mark’s again to the swing coaches.
By the way there is a biography on Jones & Hagen (Sir Walter & Mr Jones), which would make a great sporting Bio film.
Just to put these Golfing greats in modern perspective:
Tiger Woods has (to date) won 12 majors
Jack Nicklaus has won 19 majors
Bob Jones won 13 majors
Walter Hagen won 11 majors. Hagen unlike the other three could only compete In three of the modern majors (the Open, the US open and the US PGA. The masters became a major after Walter retired) The Western open was classed as a major event then, and Walter won 5!
Great men indeed.
