Correct Golf Course Locations!!!!

I noticed in the post below about the Golf Course locations that someone from Hilton Head gave the incorrect location for the filming of the golf course scenes.

The scenes that were not on the ocean were filmed at Colleton River Plantation , off Hwy 278 in Bluffton,SC, just before you get to Hilton Head Island, SC.

The ocean scenes were filmed on the Ocean Course on Kiawah Island near Charleston, SC. The film crew built a temporary tee-box and green for this scene right next to the sand dunes of the Ocean Course.

Belfair was not used in the Legend of Bagger Vance.

If you dont mind me asking, how do you know it was Colleton River?
The only resorts listed in the credits are Kiawah and Jekyll Island...
Can you tell me what hole number 1 in the movie is, and is the hole in the closing scene with old Hardy walking toward the green/Bagger the same as number 18 in the movie-the kiawah isle temporary hole?

Good reply there. I too saw Jekyll Island listed in the credits. That tells me those beach course scenes were shot in Jekyll Island, Georgia. Not South Carolina.

I'm heading to Jekyll island in a week to play some golf and go camping. Anyone out in internet land know which Jekyll island course or courses were used in the shooting? I'm guessing given the length of time b/t replies I'm probably not going to get anywhere here, if thats the case then look for a update when i return in a week, i'll make sure to ask the guy's at the pro shop to see if they know.

i was born and raised on hilton head island. parts of the movie were filmed in colleton river plantation. some friends of mine were extras. hope this helps.

I worked with the crew on Kiawah (where I'm the Golf Publicist). Here's where the scenes were filmed:

Lemon's opening and heart attack (No. 11 on Kiawah Island's Cougar Point golf course)

Park bench discussion (Between the Driving Range and No. 9 on Kiawah Island's Turtle Point golf course)

On-course arguement (No. 2 on The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort)

No. 17 (No. 9 on The Ocean Course)

No. 18 (Hole specifically built on The Ocean Course directly adjacent to the old clubhouse right on the Atlantic (now part of the driving range) (And, since the geographic set-up of the island with it running east to west with the beach facing south, the sun sets over the Atlantic in December so there was no camera trick with the sun setting on the Atlantic as Will Smith call Jack Lemon -- in charactor -- to the great beyond).

War scenes -- Beautfort, SC

City scenes -- Savannah, Ga

Other Golf Scenes -- Dye Course at Colleton River Plantion (although Im not sure which holes)

i know at least the dance scenes were filmed in jekyll. my girlfriend at the time's parents were the coreographers. they ran a dance studio in savannah. they traveled the short distance to jekyll to teach the actors and extras the foxtrot for the dance scenes.

Yes, I believe the dance locale is the Jekyll Island Club Hotel.
The Invergordon house is easily recognizable as the Mills B. Lane home on Forsyth Park.
