ending

Now obviously it's impossible for Hardy to see Bagger at the end of the movie. Bagger would heve had to be a lot older. Did Hardy die of that last heart-attack, or is Bagger in some way 'different' (i.e. supernatural)?

Personally, I think Hardy died, but what is your interpretation?

yeah you see Bagger Vance is actually Junah's guardan angel, there are clues throughout the whols film "I'm right here with ya, I've been here all along.."
"I'll be seein' ya..." and the way he knows exactly where to find Junah etc. At the end Hardy dies and Bagger appears on the horizon, it is only because Hardy is now dead that he can see Bagger again.

much older. At the end Junuh is probobly dead but Bagger isn't because he is what he is, i Don't think Bagger was God, or Junuh's gardian angel but i'm sure that Bagger is something very special FROM God.

i very much agree. I don't think Bagger was God, but that he was either- a: something from god or b: a supernatural representative of a person's spirit/soul. Hardy dies in the end of the movie from his 5th heart attack and goes to 'golf heaven'. That is where he meets Bagger agian...Bagger is waiting for him, welcoming him to the after life. (Hence Bagger telling Hardy "I'll be see'n ya" back at the same hole when he was only 11.)

I haven't watched this movie since, November 2001. That was the year I lost a my son, a stillborn. After losing him I was so interested in the "Spirit World", and this movie helped me along w/my grief. I don't think I could watched this movie again. Too many memories. I was saddened that this movie was considered a "disappointment". I loved it. It brought me comfort!

I just think Hardy died from his 5th heart attack. At the end he saw Bagger again, looking over the fields horizon, and waving. That's also the reason Bagger isn't any older.

I also think of Bagger being like Jesus, b/c of the words "I'm right here with you. I've been here all along".

Also Google for: 'Footprints in the sand'. Then you'll know what I mean Bagger being like Jesus.

Hardy dies from the heart attack. Actually, Hardie is smited by God. Note that his last action on Earth was to pick up a ball from the rough and toss it in the fairway: a terrible rules violation! Notice as well that the whole story of Junuh leads up to the moment when Junuh has to call a penalty on himself for accidentally moving the ball 2 inches. Thus Junuh's actions are seen as being very noble and Bagger decides to leave him at that point, knowing that Junuh has been redeemed.

Not so for Hardy. That old man still has learned nothing. He grossly violates the rules and pays the ultimate price. Hardy is happy to see Bagger again, but that's only because it doesn't know that Bagger is back to take his soul down to the very bowels of Hell.

Hahahaha, priceless!

On the other hand, I loved the movie & ending, although it WAS a severe disappointment in a few aspects

Killed by God for breaking a rule in golf? That's a good one....LOL. Given all the violence in the world to punish a wicked golfer is about par for the insanity of the world in general.
