Al Pacino and Oliver Stone
Does anyone know what their their thoughts were about the movie after it was made?

shareApparently Pacino liked the fact that he didn't have to be a cop or a criminal for once. Personally I liked seeing him do something new. His performance was one of the best parts of this film.
sharebut Pacino didn't do anything new, outside of character's vocation. all he did was standard Pacino gravel-voiced speeches and over the top emotionalism (just like Devil's Advocate, Glengarry Glen Ross, Heat).
Hey, I love the standard-issue Pacino, but it was hardly anything new.
What the $%*& is a Chinese Downhill?!?
Nice that you mentioned Glengarry Glen Ross. That was one of his best performances ever.
But that gravelly voice is his voice. You can only change your voice so much. Anything this guy does is bound to have that voice go with him.
GIve me a break already. There was nothing over the top in Heat, and he only yells in DA for ONE SCENE.
If you don't understand nuance and affects then you don't understand Al.
Pacino was very happy with this role for the reasons above expressed (it was refreshing for him not to portray yet another mafioso or cop).
Oliver Stone was pretty satisfied also, at least that's what I got after listening part of the audio-commentary.
In short, both liked the movie. And they have reasons to be proud about this movie: Pacino delivered another great performance and Stone directed a very good film; quite underrated if you ask me. Perhaps many people wanted to see more "football" and less drama.
And of course you can't forget Stone's "hater-base", people who always are going to give a low rating to any film directed by him no matter what.
Yeah, I agree. His performance was great and Al said he was glad not playing the criminal or the cop again.
