I can't remember the quote, but he talks about playing defensive back in college at San Diego State maybe? Is this right?

University of Houston

No - what he said was that after he entered the league, the coach in San Diego tried to turn him into a DB.

I don't recall where he went to college - the other poster may be correct about Houston. A non-power conference school would make sense.
