Interesting that she and Cameron Diaz were roughly the same age and broke out at roughly the same time. In this movie, Cameron gets the cerebral power role while Elizabeth got the role where she had to strip to lend the sagging older leading man a whiff of desirability. Her role was a joke, a trope, the type of thing you have to blow a producer or director to get.
As ditzy as Diaz may seem in real life, she at least did a better job of picking roles early in her career. This was a pathetic step down for Berkley after her vaunted expectations.
