Would it have been better or worse with a different director?
One thing can be said for sure about Oliver Stone movies: they all definitely deserve their "AN OLIVER STONE FILM" billing above the title. I feel like there is an interesting story to be told here and a great cast (even lightweights like Diaz and Modine work well in their respective roles here, good on whoever cast them).
But Ollie's direction is so over-the-top (as is his trademark) that I wonder what this would have looked like had a more traditional director had the reins (and maybe if the editor had cut some of the more off-the-wall scenes like the eye scene and Christina's visit to the full-frontal male set...I mean, the locker room).
That said I do really like this movie, solid 7.5-8 for me but I wonder what could have been.
