Tin Can Lineup: Top 10 Greatest Speeches in Film

Everyone has their own. That speech in a movie that gives you chills when you hear it. The one that inspires you to strive for the top or take on an army of thousands. Some are just so clever that you can not help but be amazed. We've compiled a list of our favorites. Hope you enjoy.

10. Wall Street: "Greed is Good"
I hope that most of you are excited as I am for the upcoming Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. It's going to take a whole lot of Michael Douglas and a Charlie Sheen cameo to get to the quality of the original Wall Street. Gordon Gekko (Douglas) discusses the habits of greed in the world and its consequences it creates. Michael Douglas went on to win the Oscar for Best Actor for his role as Gordon Gekko.

9. Independence Day: "Independence Day"
Bill Pullman gives a speech that is often overlooked when referring to powerful scences in films. Bill Pullman plays the President of the United States as aliens are planning attacks on Earth. He gives the speech you want to hear as you're headed in to fight an alien race threatening your existence. "We're fighting annihalation"

8. A Few Good Men: "You Can't Handle the Truth!"
This could easily be the most well-known speech in cinema history. It does have more conversation than is found in most speeches, but both Tom Cruise and Jack Nicholas give fantastic perfomances. The passion and confidence in both of their performances make it unforgettable.

7.Full Metal Jacket: "Boot Camp"
Passionate. Hilarious. Motivational. Gruesome. Rude. All wrapped into one. This is by far my favorite Stanley Kubrick movie. This entire scene is an instant classic. Unfortunately, Full Metal Jacket is looked over a lot of the time. It really deserves more attention.

6. Pulp Fiction: "Divine Intervention"
When compiling the list, we were extremely close to including two 'Pulp Fiction' speeches in the list. We decided against it, and just chose to do a joint post for all of the fantastic speeches and monologues in Tarantino's drama picture. The clip we have is of Samuel Jackson and Jon Travolta. Watch how Jackson commands the room and the way that he speaks. Just perfect. Enjoy.

5. Any Given Sunday: "Inches"
Even though this Pacino locker room speech is 5th in our countdown, there are plenty of people who would argue that it deserves to be number 1 in any countdown. If you're any type of sports fan, I don't blame ya. Its an absolutely phenomenal speech. I wish all coaches would inspire their players like this. Take notes.

4. 25th Hour: "*beep* You"
You don't have to agree with the things that Edward Norton's character says here, but you have to admire the speech. Well, more of a monologue than a speech. Either way you take it, it deserves the 4 spot in our countdown. Also, the visuals in this scene are killer.

3. Braveheart: "They Will Never Take Our Freedom"
All Mel Gibson actions aside, this speech is amazing. It is definitely one of the more well-known speeches, specially the final line. William (Gibson) does a great job here in screaming out his words, but still providing emphasis. He takes on all opposition and inspires men to fight for what is right.

2. Glengarry Glen Ross: "Coffee is for Closers"
Every sales team, marketing squad, advertising firm, and business associate has probably been shown this clip, if not the entire film. Alec Baldwin gives the best performance of his life in this scene. "2nd place, a pack of steak knives. 3rd place, you're fired"

1. Fight Club: "Our Great Depression"
This speech is more than deserving to be number 1 on our list. Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt) really does a great job on speaking out against government and assumptions of our generation and the way we're living. Adapted from a novel, Brad Pitt really brings it to life and delivers the number 1 speech on our countdown. Speaking to a generation that believes in what he was saying.
