As Good As It Gets
I just watched this again for the first time in years, and it is as good as I remember, if not better. The subject matter is somehow still very relevant, the script is excellent, and the performances for the most part are spectacular.
I'm sure some compain that Thirteen Days is too nostalgic and paints a too-flattering picture of the Kennedys and their inner circle. But the nostalgia is weaved into the story so seamlessly that it doesn't detract. And the group's brilliant handling of the crisis is a matter of historical fact. So where's the complaint?
Finally, I was also impressed with the look of the film, including the actors picked to portray figures that many of us remember. I often knew who the characters were before they were identified. And it was just mesmerizing.
Oh, my God! They're turkeys!
