The cast list order on various IMDb pages is a hot mess. It seems there are about four options: order of character significance, order of appearance, alphabetical (by actor's last name,) and bizarre randomized.
Here are the first three listings for The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring:
Alan Howard as the voice of the Ring (who knew?)
Elijah Wood as Frodo (ok, reasonable)
Noel Appleby as Everard Proudfoot (huh??)
From Mr. Appleby on, it seems to be in alphabetical order by actor, so that Ian McKellan as Gandalf is not even on the first page.
Explain that system.
Thirteen Days, since it's list begins with the U2 pilot, followed by the O'Donnell family, seems to be in order of appearance, but I wouldn't stake my life on that.
For a site that has "database" in its name, and which meticulously specifies by which name an actor was credited for a specific role (i.e Tiffani-Amber Thiessen vs. Tiffani Thiessen,) they have a very lax attitude toward listing order.
"Morbius, something is approaching from the southwest. It is now quite close."
