Miscast Ava Gardener and Frank Sinatra

Ray Liotta is great. I think they cast his persona because sinatra often made sure he got what he wanted. The main problem was the lack of physical resemblence and lack of ability to convince a smooth crooning vocal style. Although only miming.

I really like Debra Kara Unger but was she really a good choice for Ava Gardener?? It needed a dark mysterious, bold tough, exceptionally beautiful woman.

who could play ava gardner, really? i've been thinking about it for a long time, and there's nobody today that could play her, it would be like trying to cast someone to play elizabeth taylor. she was at least a better choice than kate beckinsdale.

can you see the red queen?

The only modern day person who could/could have played Ava Gardner , would be Angelina Jolie

As a long time fan of Sinatra and also fully aware of his limitations as a man, I must say Liotta was pretty hopeless in this film. An actor with a key role like this should be able to work out some of the mannerisms, the Jersy drawl, the dark depressions, the vocal style(even if miming)and the sheer energy of the man at other times. The temper was shown to effect, but the rest was poor. Obviously a limited actor or simply unprofessional in his preparation. Don Cheadle and Joe Montegna did well.

Jolie as Gardner? Are you f>cking kidding me? Gardner had more class in her little toe than Jolie has in her entire gross, anorexic, tattooed, deformed body. Yuck. Kate Beckinsale is as close as were gonna get in CLASS and LOOKS to Ava Gardner.

GET!!!

i think Unger did a great job as Ava.Nobody looks like Ava,but Unger is the only actress of the three who have portrayed her,who has a facial similarity, had the hairstyle, copied her voice, her way of moving,i think she was as close to Ava as you can get.

Kate Beckinsale is great but I think Rachel Weisz would do a closer Ava. And Frank Sinatra--Harry Connick Jr if he could get rid of his southern accent? Or Leonardo DiCaprio (who seems capable to do just about anything), except his features are too fine--Sinatra's nose was pretty prominent, Leonardo would have to be willing to have a nose manufactured like the one Nicole Kidman had when she played Virginia Woolf.

I'm surprised to read this –– I thought Debra Kara Unger as Ava was the most perfect casting of the film.

This was supposed to be Ava Gardner around 1960, no?
