David Fincher Mocks Spider-Man's 'Dumb' Origin Story

Acclaimed director David Fincher points out his issue with the Spider-Man movie origin plot.

reply

Does not say anything interesting.

Superpowers. Where to get them?
I think Spider-Man is ok, not too dumb.

Most of his enemies are way dumber.

Anyway, dismissing him because of the spider bite is stupid.

reply

Really dumb take from Fincher. He's willing to go along with the idea of a teenager fighting bad guys in his red and blue pajamas but he can't accept the origin of how he got his powers?

This and the stupid comments he made in regards to Joker reinforces my beliefs that Fincher's a guy who thinks he's smarter than he actually is.

reply

The guy has made only one good movie, he's not that great at storytelling himself.

reply

The original Spiderman was a good film. Much better than any of the subsequent movies.

reply

You could probably mock most superhero origins if you put just a little thought into it. Sometimes you have to just go with it. It ain't Shakespeare or Hemingway and it ain't meant to be. It's just fun. Jesus.
