scene at the end with jesse

Does anyone else think the scene at the end with Jesse and Rachel was so tragic? Especially the part where he caught on fire and was willing to die there with her but then she threw him onto the pool and he goes "NO!" because he didn't want to live if she died because he loved her so much. For some reason that part always gets to me. I think his character is so sweet and I loved him in the movie and their chemistry together. If only this wasn't a horror movie maybe they would have gotten a happy ending. If only that witch Tracy hadn't kept him away maybe he could have stopped everything.

I still love this movie though and I love all the scenes with Jesse and Rachel. They really are like Romeo and Juliet, a tragic romance. I also think this movie is kind of touching and heartwarming with the scenes between the two up until the end. Anyone else or just me?

I agree. Their scenes were very pure and organic.
I loved those scenes also.
It was refreshing to see the popular HS jock go for the unpopular girl just because he liked her personality.
And not be swayed by peer pressure. That means that he was mature beyond is HS years. Very rare, but refreshing.

That was a beautiful scene it was sad too because Rachel died and couldn't be with Jesse, it was really sad.

It was sad, tragic, and deeply romantic that she died saving him, but the truth is... She had to die. For this story to work, she had to die.

I don't feel enough for you to cry.

Oh well.

Their relationship and chemistry helped the movie a ton.. the pair coulda easily been lame and not properly matched and it woulda made the movie worse but they were believable together and they were really a perfect fit for each other. If Jason hadn't been married I see him and Emily maybe being a legit couple honestly.

The romance was a nice twist that made the movie work.. in the OG only Carrie loved Tommy, not the other way around. This time they genuinely care for each other and Jesse becomes a better person because of it. He gets away from the upper class brainwashing and grows as a person while finding the love of his life, he defends her character and gets out of the poisonous culture that coulda consumed him like his teammates. She also grows too.. she feels wanted and becomes more girly, and lets him in.. saddly like her sissy it wasn't meant to be.

I was surprisingly very moved by the romance in this one.. the final few scenes legitly bummed me out on the first watch and I teared up.. not easy for me to do. Shea and the writer were geniuses for emphasizing the romance, it made the movie much better.
