Paul Brenner and Frank White??


I dont understand

throughout the movie is Warr. Off. Paul Brenner

but I also know he is in the army, but why does the names next to John Travolta say Paul Brenner/ Sgt. Frank White

who is sgt. frank white??, why would travolta be under a different name in the army??, or is paul brenner not his real name??

i dont understand this. good movie though, i can see why people don like it but there expecting something much more different

At the beginning of the movie, Travolta states "it is good to be undercover." So the sgt. is his cover...

Brenner is his real name. He was at the post when the death occurred because he was investigating another, unrelated case, in which he was undercover as a sergeant attached to the motor pool, etc. When the dead woman was found, Brenner was already there so he was assigned to that case as well.

I was a little slow. I got it that he had an undercover identity name, but his rank eluded me -- until I realized one rank was his real one and one rank was his undercover. I got it when he said that both he and Stowe were warrant officers. I was in the military. I know about warrant officers -- usually from the ranks, not college graduates, one or two stripes on their lieutenant's bars. Back in World War II many of them were fighter pilots -- good for the job, but not intended as career officers.

I miss Big Band music and talented singers. Leonard Cohen/idol. Civility, harmony, unity!
