Seemed more like a made for TV movie
Having watched the film in the theaters when it first came out it always seemed to me that it was one of those made for tv crime dramas.
The performances by James Wood, Tim Hutton, James Cromwell, Clarence Willaims, etc. were fine. It just seemed that their talents were wasted on what amounted to was a very cliched, clap trap of a film.
John Travolta I can see doing a film like this. Both he and Nic Cage seem to be relegated to doing very crappy films, or maybe they just can't say no to any script that happens to pass their way. Which makes me wonder if maybe they both are having serious financial problems. I know Nic Cage had to sell off some homes and was in deep dog poop (financially speaking) for a while. But I didn't know that Travolta was in the same predicament.
Leslie Stefanson's character (Capt. Elizabeth Campbell) seemed interesting enough. I wish they had done more with her. I also wish they had explored more on the whole Psy Ops department. Oh, well... opportunities lost.
