Will a prequel ever be made?
I wonder if an 'origins' movie will ever be made giving us the backstory of Patrick Bateman. I am actually surprised it hasn't been done already.

shareRules of attraction
shareYeah, as Porsche wrote, Rules of Attraction provides an adequate prequel for the Bateman character. I’m speaking more of the book, but I believe he is also in the film adaptation (only seen it once very long ago so my recollection is fuzzy).
I don’t think any further Patrick Bateman origin/reboot is necessary. Best to leave that to the imagination for the viewers based on what has already been written.
Ellis wrote a short prequel to promote AP when it came out. It’s on the web somewhere.
Patrick and Sean was sons of a wealthy NYC banker, growing up in the city. It’s was basically Hamptons and high end restaurants. As Bozo suggested I sequel would be more interesting.
That’s cool! I had never heard of that particular piece of literature.
shareI just remembered when AP came out and it had a one of those early web pages (with funky music that played when it loaded up) there were letters/emails written by Patrick Bateman like a diary on what he was up to in the present day (2000) he'd got married, had a son etc
shareI remember that as well!
shareRather have a sequel with Bale
shareBale will never return to this IP unfortunately!
shareI'd love to see a sequel with Bale. Like Schwarzenegger in Terminator Dark Fate, like an old, matured Bateman becoming benign and later starting an emotional relationship with a woman while raising her son.
shareYes it'd be fun to see Bale back as Bateman 20years later in the 2000s, seeing him back in the role after he'd become such a major star with Batman, Terminator and winning oscars etc
it could be great so long as Ellis writes it and they get the AP director back with Bale and various cast returning (Chloe, Reese, Dafoe, maybe a Leto cameo as the ghost of Paul Allen lol) along with whoever else (imagine Ed Norton or Brad as Batemans middle age nemesis version of Paul Allen! or maybe Norton could cameo as his Fight Club character, but Patrick can see Brad!)
It'd also reclaim the title from that shameless stdvd rip off AP2 with Kunis and Shatner! (which killed off Bateman in the opening)
