4.6???

how is this rated a 4.6 i thought it was a great movie, it almost made me cry when he was outside shovelling and couldn't put the shovel down and come into the house. it was so good, it was touching and sensitive, a terrific family movie i think, even if it isn't realistic it did deal with things young kids might not know how to deal with, like death for example. anyways thats my little bit.

Yeah, it's not the best movie in the world but what people have to realize is that this is a family film. I don't like this movie much now, but I LOVED it when I was 8.

This movie really influenced me a lot when I was very young and even to this day, I think its a great movie. Shocked that the movie got such a low rating. It makes me wonder what kind of people vote here. Family films never seem to get much appreciation but we need more films like this specially in this day and age when its all about guns and explosions.

Really weird... I thought it was pretty good. Not the best (obviously), and pretty strange... but 4.6? No no no. I expected it to get somewhere around a 5.5 or a 5.7. That's expected. But 4.6? That just isn't right. It really wasn't that bad.

Very under-rated in my book.

I had a very hard childhood so I saw this when I was extremely young, about 8/9 I think. It hit a nerve in the best way. Yes it might be cheesy but there is something inherently sweet about the overall storyline. Where I give it kudos is at the end when his father says goodbye to him and his mother, it wasn't over the top! In fact it was a really sweet ending and cemented how much I adore this film. Can't fault it as it helped me through a rough time so def. a particular favourite of mine.

I know your post is old now but its a 5.0 and thats still too low. i give it a 7 for its genre of family christmas movies. its a cute movie. i think a 5.0 is harsh. it deserves a 6.5 at least. nice movie. it was a 4.6? damn but maybe people are coming around :P it did go up 4 whole points.

reply

I gave it a 7. It's a good christmas movie. Sure, it's silly at times, but it has great moments.

The rating has increased since this thread started from 4.6 to 5.2! It might be cheesy but there is something inherently sweet about the overall storyline.

Went to see it in the theatre around my 30th birthday - I am now watching it on VHS in my garage on the day before Christmas Eve - I just turned 48 - I like it because of Kelly Preston, but I love it because of Henry Rollins... Merry Christmas everyone
