Thoughts on the Production

This film is passable junk art. Some things work in spite of the limitations of the production. The actors generally don't try to emote. They just speak their lines and stare into the camera as if zoned out on pills. This actually makes the outbursts of violence and screaming more effective.

The vampiric fangs of the undead! These are some of the worst fangs in all of cinema. They are just your standard issue, 99 cent, plastic or wax costume fangs you could find at a drug store on halloween. They are so unwieldy that you never see the vampires open their mouths. This makes the violence more stylized, maybe a bit more atmospheric.

The interiors of the houses. There are two or three interiors in this film, besides the crypt of the undead. All have spotless, barely furnished, modern subruban interiors.(The main character's sister's house is decorated with vaguely menacing menacing Buddha statues) I liked the contrast between these homes and the filthy, cluttered, crowded underground cavern of the mad priest. Intentional? Probably not.

The very end...a good twist, a nice parting shot, but undercut by bad editing throughout. In some scenes, we only know what happens because we have seen other horror movies in which similar things have happened.

Twist at the end? I don't even know what to make of the ending. Good movie though, I didn't see anything at all "artsy" about it, maybe I just didn't over-analyze it.

Good eye for a bad film. I appreciate your thoughts, though all I saw was junk here, not art.

I really enjoy this film a lot. It was my second time watching and it was even better the second time around. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
