Could anybody tell me more about the desk?
I would love to find out what kind of desk has been used for the movie.

It's a great desk, isn't it? I have sort of a smaller version of this desk and it has some secret drawers and a hidden compartment. My desk is from about 1900, and not from the Civil War era.
