What may be obvious to some viewers I just realized I have never understood, what does Alonzo mean when he says "Stay off of the Rover" into the Walkie-talkie right before busting the college kids who bought pot.
I've always interpreted that as Alonzo attempting to keep Jake from communicating with the LAPD throughout the day. Keep him out of contact. Why Jake never questioned it, I can't say. Obviously normal police procedure is to radio in before making a stop. Make sure somebody knows where you are and what you are doing in case you require backup, or get into trouble. Clearly, Alonzo didn't want LAPD knowing precisely where he was or what he was doing throughout the day. I may be wrong.
