Don't get me wrong, I love the doctor in music - he's one of the best producers of all time, for sure - but his acting chops are not a selling point for me. He's the only one who pulled me right out of the movie, even Snoop Dogg did great in it. Am I the only one who thought Dre did a bad job?
shareYeah, Dre was pretty bad. When I first saw the movie I just thought it was cool that Dre was in it (I was around 16-17 at the time). I didn't pay much attention to his acting. When I watch it now, his bad acting really stands out. Part of it is the dialogue, but his delivery and mannerisms are way over the top. It seems forced and unnatural. I also agree with you about Snoop being great. I thought he nailed his part.

He seemed like he hated Ethan Hawke for killing his mother or something when he first met him. Chilllllll........
It has ham-handed, for sure, but I took it as the character, Paul, being a blowhard loudmouth.
Never seen him in anything else, though, which is probably why it didn't bother me.
At least Hoyt cold cocked Dre. Would have been more satisfying had Dre been blasted with 'the bitch', but I'll take his knuckle sandwich.
