What if Fight Club had released directly after 9/11?

Could a movie which features a terrorist anti-hero, a graphic depiction of a plane crash, and a discussion about bomb-making inside an airplane cabin have possibly been received well in 2001 or 2002? Would the movie have triggered a moral panic, or would it still go on to become a critical and commercial success despite a brief negative news-cycle? Could the movie have gotten away with one or two cut scenes, or would the overarching theme have been considered abhorrent altogether? Would the movie have been delayed to avoid releasing at such a culturally insensitive time?

I totally forgot that this movie came out in ‘99, it didn’t seem that close to 9/11. Seems crazy, this is one of my favorite films of all time. People probably would have been really divided over this movie coming out so close to the event but I think there would still be a strong group of fans, though they would have been eaten alive by the PC crowd which I actually agree with most of the time because they are usually in support of ultimate human progress.

It’s crazy to think about, I guess I’m just glad that it came out before the tragedy so I don’t have to feel bad about loving it so much.

Seeing this movie was the reason I celebrated the 'smoking towers' I saw on the TV, because I thought it means freedom for us, and equalizing people's debts, and a better world that could finally start being built.

What a disappointment THAT was.

BTW, it was a controlled demolition (looked very similar to this movie's demolitions) that simply removed two useless buildings and didn't really kill almost anyone, but the psy-op theatre and the 'vicsims' made people believe it was a tradegy - while billionaires PROFITED from this event enormously!

Almost.. 'almost' as if they KNEW about it before, so they could arrange the profit-creating mechanisms in place before it happened.

In any case, I guess it's going to take exploding this whole crappy planet for people to finally be free, especially nowadays that everything is 'in the cloud', nothing else can erase all debt and such.
