Interesting, disturbing point

I've seen this film several times amd I think it's extremely well done but upon viewing it lately I noticed something I never did before. Anybody else every notice the amount of women in Little Tall that married men disturbinging older than they were?

reply

It seemed a lot of the parents were much too old to have young children.

I am so smart, the only thing I can't comprehend is how stupid everyone else is

reply

No they are not. Not everyone gets kids at 18, you know, there are people that actually plan them.

reply

That's very interesting. I did not notice that, but you're right.

reply

Maybe thats why there are only 8 children on the island. And only one teenager.

reply

And I wonder why he didn't kill the teenager after he killed the first woman .

reply

why exactly did he kill the first woman?

reply

There were not only 8 children and one teenager. There's a line of dialogue about the older kids staying in Machias on the mainland because the ferry can't brave the storm to bring them home.

It shows three teenagers and mentions that the others can't make it back from school due to the storm.

Agreed, I was waiting for that come into light later on in the film, but it was never discussed.

I think he killed the old woman because murdering her seemed a lot more violent because she was old and couldn't defend herself. Linoge also wanted attention - he wanted to be found so he could get near the townspeople.

In regards to the older couples... I noticed that, too. The kids weren't that old and some of the parents looked quite... aged, especially the men.
I'm guessing that was just a casting choice. However, I'd rather see older people who can act than younger ones who can't. But yeah, it was disturbing.

Why is it disturbing?
