Would be simpler to get a star who wants to be in Chubby Rain
Than having a star who doesn't know he's in it.
shareWell from what I remember he was specifically fixated on Kit Ramsey because of the hot shot producer played by Robert Downey Jr. told him (sarcastically but unbeknownst to Bowfinger) that he would greenlight his movie if he could get Kit to star in the project. What I always wondered was why they didn't just get Kit's twin brother to impersonate him for the entire movie instead of going through all of that convoluted stalking & secret filming.
shareAlso his cameraman asked why he can't wait to get a star who wants to be in it? and he said he's 49 years old meaning nobody would hire him when he hits 50, so by having a star who doesn't know he's in it he can have the project to himself.

Bowfinger was told that if Kit Ramsey was in the movie, they would produce it.
The producer who told him this knew that Bowfinger was a fraud, and would have no chance of getting Kit Ramsey in the movie, so was being facetious with him. But Bowfinger was too naive to realise this.
Bowfinger thought he was too old to get a star who wanted to be in it.
