The Dog represents our fears

Scenario 1) If you ignore your fears (Lola runs past the dog) you may get caught unaware (Lola dies of cop's freak shot)

Scenario 2) If you succumb to your fears (Lola trips of dog's leg) then you may survive but will loose precious things in your life (her boyfriend dies)

Scenario 3) If you overcome your fears (Lola jumps over the dog) then you will most likely see the success (there may be collateral damage like dad and meyer's accident but its inevitable in life as the guard says "you can't get everything")

Interesting theory. Except there is one flaw. In the second scenario, Lola is tripped by the kid sticking his leg out, not the dog. At least in the version I saw.

So, I don't think the dog represents "our fears".
