Mordred's dying words

Anyone know what Mordred meant when he told Mab dying was the last thing he'd do? I've seen this movie about a hundred times and still can't figure that out.

Dying is the last thing any of us will ever do. Since Mordred was supposed to be unbeatable, he certainly wasn't supposed to die so soon. I believe he was being somewhat sarcastic, since he knew he was dying.

The witty and decadent nature of much of Mordred's dialogue and the fact Peter Barnes co-wrote the script suggest to me that the similarity to the reputed last words of British Prime Minister Lord Palmerston are intentional. They were "Die my dear doctor - that's the last thing I intend to do."

When you say something's "the last thing I'll do" it means you have no intention of doing it. But it was said in an ironic sense because dying was indeed the last thing he ever did.

Ah, I don't know why I didn't think of that! Thanks!

Whenever I watch the movie and Mordred says that line, I think "well, duh..."

LOL!

I guess it could also be interprited as, well he'll never die really because the legend that is Mordred will always live on.
