If Mab's the other parent than that means he's half sidhe (breed of faery). In some Myths he is the son of Oberon (faery king), who is Mab's son.

I know it's an old post but if you (or anybody else) could provide the info I'd be very grateful: what version(s) of the story of Merlin names Oberon as his father? I've never read any like that. All the medieval texts I've read have either an unnamed demon as his father or Ambrosius Aurelianus; modern rewritings have done a vast variety of things, completely free of any medieval reference, and that's just fine (I'm thinking of several novels who have Taliesin as Merlin's father for example), so I was wondering if this Oberon thing was one of those recent examples, or if it was somewhat more ancient. Thank you!

it doesnt actually make any mentioned of what his other half is in the movie. as the myth goes, it varies, usually son of an incubus (male version of a succubus) or some other faerie.
