Tanning Scene

Now, i think this scene was very well done acting wise, but story wise it was kinda stupid. If Ben really wanted to kill Julie, he could have easily lifted the tanning bed and caught her off guard. And the way he trapped her....If Julie just calmed down couldn't she have untied the thing around the handles? And when Tyrell, Will, and Karla come in, there was no real need to smash the tanning bed with the barbel. If everyone just calmed down, they could have just untied the thing and helped her out.

Wasnt it one of those zip tie things? Those things are a pain in the ass to get undone. And I'd be freakin out.

1# Unplug it or turn it off.
2# Julie could of got out by getting on her stomach and crawling out from the top.

But it is a bikini scene, so we cant really bash it.

Yeah, it was a zip tie and if you don't have a knife they are a bitch to get off but for real they could have just relaxed cause she wasn't burning up like in what was it Final Dest 3 where those 2 chicks burned up. But JLH does no wrong, she is one of the hottest girls on the planet.

you don't just undo zip ties, you can only cut them. They are pretty tough to break

The zip tie thing is true, you cannot just untie them and also Ben was just playing with Julie he didn't want to kill her.... yet.

Turning it off should have been thhe first logical thought of any reasonable person regardless of stress level...it would be like if you saw someone trapped in a burning car but decided to repair a broken window on the car before helping them out.

The entire sequence here was utterly ridiculous, there's really no way around that imo.

When you're 17 a cow can seem dangerous and forbidden...am I alone here?

She was trapped in a tanning baed, while it was turned on. Of course she would freak out. Even if it wasn't turned on. SHe still would've freaked out.

she technically should have died anyway regardless of the killer cause she was on a tanning bed with no protective goggles on for a good 2 and a half minutes. although i have never tanned or needed to but thats what people tell me.
it was a zip tie you cant just untie it.
it helps with the suspence. back then it was like "oh my god will she make it!" "SOMEONE HELP HER!!!" ect

LOL that would've been a better ending....Julie's at the hospital when the doctor walks in and tells her she has eye cancer...no jumping hookman, just "you have 2 months to live" END.

She took them off after Ben Willis leaves the room and shuts the door behind her. So she was lying in the tanning bed with her protective goggles off for a while. If it was real she definitely would've had some damage done to her eyes, if not gone blind. The tanning bed scene is one of the most ludicrous scenes in the whole movie to me and yet it provides a great scene that dives into the final act of the movie with Ben stalking everyone around the island. They definitely should've just unplugged it and then thought of a way to get her out. Or better yet, turn down the heat dial thing. But it was a great suspense scene.

i thought the scene was kinda off.
i know that ben was just messing with julie thats why he didn't kill her and i'd admit i'd be freaking out too about being stuck in the tanning bed.
but when her friends get there, they start like "its ok we'll cut we can get you out" when in order to tone down the situation all they needed to do was turn off the tanning machine and then think of a plan to cut her out.
and you're all right, those ties can't be just untied they have to be cut.
clever move by him, she couldn't do it herself, if it was a rope she could've easily gotten herself out. this required her being stuck there unless someone found her which they did.

I really like this movie but I will never understand why the tanning bed has a handle on the bottom half? Is it some sort of large brief case? Is it lugged around? Yes, it conveniently allows for both halves to be tied together. But what tanning bed has a handle on the bottom portion?

Yeah I thought this whole thread was gonna be about how hot JL is. When she first strips down and the camera pans down, that's just amazing.

Highlight of the movie, along with Jen in her bathrobe right out of the shower and Brandy getting out of bed and strutting around in her underwear.

Under circumstances like she was in, she wasn't thinking clearly, she thought Ben Willis was going to kill her, after the first movie, she has a reason to freak out. Who honestly would think of the right thing in that situation, no one would think clearly, especially if you're claustophic. But yeah, there was something a little similar in Final Destination 3 where the board is preventing her from getting out. Julie couldn't get out of there by herself, you have to cut a ziptie, if Karla, Will & Tyrell weren't there, she could've been burned to death. So yeah, she had a good reason to panic, especially for her not knowing where everyone else was.
