Who was the guy on the road?

When ray goes and turns over the dead guy on the road he looks so surprised, like he knew the guy? How did he know ben was going to show up?

This whole scene kind of confused me...can someone explain what happened here?

reply

The "body" looked like a dummy to me. The whole thing was staged by Ben Willis/The Fisherman knowing that Ray would stop to help. I don't know... it was a poorly executed scene. I think the writers just needed Ray to know that the Fisherman was back (so he'd have a reason to get to the island ASAP) plus they get additional victim to the body count.

Come on people, the body was clearly a dummy. I know it's only a quick camera shot, but it's pretty obvious.

It looked like a dummy, but the shot was very dark. I honestly came on here just to confirm that it wasn't a real person from the film that I had forgotten about. I don't think they made it obvious enough.

It was a mannequin!! Ben had parked a car at the side of the road, dressed the mannequin in a slicker and placed it in the middle of the road. And Ray looked surprised because he then knew it was a trap.

It was a dummy laying in the road

Always thought the dummy looked like Ray too, I'm guessing it wasn't just me and that it was intentional...

Ben was recreating the accident scene from the first movie. He placed the mannequin (which I assume he took from Shiver's) and he used a blue BMW as the car like in the first movie. In fact, that BMW could have even been Barry's. We are never told what happens to Barry's car and I wouldn't put it past the fisherman to steal it after he ran Barry over.

Anyway when Ray sees it's a mannequin he instantly knows it's a trap.
