Add this GOOF: patches of snow are actually pieces of white cloth

If you watch the movie carefully, you'll notice some effective, low-budget, low-tech special effects. During the approach to the cave's entrance, the rescue party passes among patches of remaining, unmelted snow on the ground since the time of year is late March or April. But one of the party, the cannibal Mr. Calhoun, walks on one of the 'snow patches' and you clearly see that it is white cloth cleverly placed on the ground to resemble snow. After being clued in to that, you find yourself closely observing the other 'snow patches' and those are also white cloths. It would have been largely unnoticed by me had I not observed the actor accidentally kicking up a white cloth. I don't know if the director or the cameraman caught it but if they did they probably hoped it would not be noticed.

Well spotted, just rewatched that scene and noticed. It's Robert Carlyle's character that steps on it, so if anyone else is reading this, just watch him in the minute or two before they approach the cave.

LOL- always wondered if anyone else noticed the white towels. I love this movie and I chuckle every time I see Robert Carlyle kick that one towel as he's stumbling along. Reminds me of something you would find in an Ed Wood movie. Oddly, it makes me that much more fond of the film.

"Write us out of this one, Joan Wilder..."

Lol just watched the movie. And even before he kicked the towel I was thinking, are those sheets supposed to be snow or remains from a camp site?
