RIP Antonia Bird..

Just heard that director Antonio bird passed away and I am saddened. She did an excellent job with this film and never gained the praised she deserved.

I read that when the studio lost the original director and wanted to turn this film into a comedy, Rob Carlyle and Guy pearce were infuriated. Carlyle having just come off the success of Full Monty at the time had just enough clout to convince the studio to hire Bird and salvage the film.

Not only did her and everyone else salvage it...they made a film that is amongst one of my favourites. I haven't really followed her work since, but I am sure she was proud of this film. I doubt we will see another like this in the near future...and I am sad that we have lost a fine director.

May she Rest in peace.

I'm a big fan of Ravenous as well and just thought the director deserved to have her name spelled correctly on the only RIP message she will probably get on here.

OK. Sorry about being nasty. Antonia was a gifted filmmaker and I was proud of her work on ravenous (especially considering it nearly wound up being helmed by the director of smurfs 1 & 2.......ughhhh). Her and rob Carlyle worked well together and it saddens me that she never really got a chance to show her full potential....although she was probably never trying to be A list.

RIP Antonia.

Oh no. I'm speechless. She finished her journey too early.
I absolutely love her films, Ravenous, Priest, Face. She was a such brilliant directer.
Rest in peace Antonia.
