Female director...

Something about the fact that a woman directed this makes it just a notch cooler in my book. How many female directors have the chops to tackle a film like this that is bursting with masculinity.

I wonder how much of the strange way this thing gets under your skin has to do with this odd combination -- all the male actors, and a woman at the helm. Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with anything, but I wonder, because for me this film has something you can't put your finger on.

Anyway, major props to Antonia Bird on a very entertaining film.

The same with Kathryn Bigelow. She directed a fine war film called The Hurt Locker. It is hard to imagine a female director tackled this project. She also directed the male dominated Point Break with Patrick Swayze. Bigelow is a very good director.
