Out of place music..
This movie is supposed to be "dark comedy" but.. yeah it wasn't. It was just dark.
It's a fun movie but the music is just incredibly out of place throughout the movie. Weird.

Disagree. Music is perfect.
shareI didn't exactly hate the music. But it's still out of place for some reason.
Sounded like infantry music. Beats of march or something.
The music is bloody perfect.
Sounds like you wanted a different movie, because the movie it is, is perfect thanks to that soundtrack.
ounds like you wanted a different movie
Music is not even close to being 'bloody' perfect for this movie.
But people have different tastes,
i absolutely agree. it takes certain scenes that build up to be very tense, and shatters that, namely the chase scene through the woods with the hillbilly banjo/singing. it just made the scene feel goofy, and it lost of its intensity for me.
i still love the movie, but i feel like it could benefit from a different score. maybe a fan edit??
I have to return some videotapes.

Googled movie after this exact scene to see if I was watching a horror or a comedy
shareI agree that the music in Ravenous is somewhat out of place several times during the movie, however I actually think that might be intentional. Because even if it's out of place it somehow adds to the whole atmosphere of the movie, not to mention the dark humour.
Like that scene where Calqhoun chases Toffler though the woods like a mad man, and they play that almost joyful fiddle music. I laughed so much, and that was - in part - because of the surrealism in the combination of the music and what's happening.
Yeah, though it seems like for some the music was one of the strongest aspects of this film, I personally found it at times both unappealing and quite distracting. To each their own.
shareAgree completely . The music broke the atmosphere completely.
shareDamon Albarn and Michael Nyman did the score, I believe most of the instruments used were contemporary to the time period of the story. I like it so much I own the soundtrack.
shareYeah, me too. People complaining about the music probably have a limited taste in movies and limited view how they should be made...
