The ending

Having only seen the American version and never the original Hong Kong version, I've always been bothered by the ending. It just seems so abrupt, with Michelle Ferre's character telling Jackie Chan's that they're going to try to find out who he is, and asking what he's going to do now, and he just answers about going back to Africa and they cut to a wide shot of the bridge, followed by the credits. It always seemed like such an abrupt way to end the movie, and I've been wondering if there was another scene or some other dialogue in the original version of the movie. Or course, it's also completely possible that this is exactly how they meant to end the movie. Does anyone know?

The ending was ok, at least he did not end up as a retard (drunken master 2), or in prison (Zhong an zu).

The ending is the same in the Hong Kong version, at least on DVD. As grand finales go, it's not one of Chan's best. Give me 'Project A' any day.

reply

I agree, Project A is much more exciting Chan's flick.

Actually, during the credits, you see him returning to the people in a Helicopter. Soooooo. . . there's that.
