Someone out there must have seen this movie and liked it...

so lemme know who you are...

I like it, though I do have to agree with its critics in the matter of it's not real, real good. My question is, who was the guy who played the guy who raped Serena? I don't think IMDB has him listed in the credits.

I had totally forgotten about this post...hah.. i dont know who he is though... sorry...

The guy who raped Serena was played by Eric Mabius.

Thank you. I was just thinking of that question the other day. I just happened to surf back on to this thread.

Hey, thanks.

I kind of liked this movie. It wasn't great or anything, though. I'm a big fan of Luke Wilson, and I thought he was good in it. Also, Jack Black was hilarious.

"That's it! You're out, and you're out too. And I'm not sure if I'm in either. No gang!"

reply

Not the greatest.....it's certainly not as good as the book but I liked it.

studies show that you are significantly dumber after watching this movie. but what pothead wouldn't love this classic stoner flick? Jack Black was awesome in a limited role, Alicia Witt is HOTT, and you can't help but sympathize and root for any character that Luke Wilson plays. or at least i can't. it may not be one of those movies that gets better every time you watch it, but it definitely has its moments.

by the way i can't BELIEVE this movie was a book. are you serious? stoners don't have the attention span to read, everyone knows that....
but i guess you're reading this post....

I liked this movie. By far it wasnt a great or even a really good movie, but sometimes even bad movies just have something about them. I enjoyed this for that reason. Allot of things about this movie just connected to me personally... not the smoking dope part, although even that had some small part. It was the connection of me being on the east coast and a girl I knew who moved to Portland, OR. That was what originally drew me in and soon I found it to be one of those movies that I knew wasn't really good but I still liked it. I acctually came on here to see how much it was on DVD. I knew it got bad reviews and like i said it wasnt great, but still I liked it. Although it was listed at around $17 and thats hard to believe.

It isn't an all-time great but I am surprised it is so low rated. The stoner calls at the end and the Jack Black songs alone make it worth a rental. Plus there's some true-to-life vibe with the acid trip, the losing the babe to the wild artist and of course the my girlfriend is a wacko, but I love her anyway theme.

I know a lot of guys who watch David go back to Serina at the end and shake their heads like "oh, God, I've been there, dude."

This movie is a classic, how can you possibly say this isn't a great film. David the slacker, his two gay friends, the coffee shop, the vw bug, this movie had cool locations, who all doesn't remeber the camping trip scene, we've all done that. The characters were real, that is the strong point of this movie. People say it has no storyline, david is a lazy dude, he meets a girl who sees that he isn't happy about something, and she tries to help him, but she is whacked out herself, then he realizes, she needs him also. This was a great movie, next to Fightclub and Whipped, this is one of my favorite movies.

guess what just stopped smoking, your house ;) jeremy sisto and andy dick("totally 80s!!!) are classic, jack black of course as well

reply

I agree with you all this movie is a classic. Luke Wilson was cool as always. Alicia Witt was surprisingly funny. Jeremy Sisto and Andy Dick as funny gay guys and Jack Black stole the show. His Jesus song was hilarious! My favorite part has to be when Alicia Witt's roommate passes out and Andy Dick says "Not on my watch, WAKE UP BITCH!" then slaps her back to reality. Funny $hit!

reply

I loved this movie just because I am a gay stoner and have yet to see another film where our kind is featured. andy dick is hilarious, luke wilson and jeremy sisto are hot, and the blazing just never ceases, making this one of my TOP guilty pleasure films.

reply

i thought it was awesome, everything about it and luke wilson as the lead was great.

I agree with the previous post and all the others - I too was surprised it got such a low vote. I kept flipping past it every time it aired, although the name always caught my attention :)

Tonight I had insomnia and decided to give it a try. I was hooked. What a fantastic lineup of actors :) They were coming out of the woodwork!!!! And all brilliantly casted. The casting director really earned his money.

I recently lost my mother and found the scene where he's tripping and playing word up with his mom in the woods so heart breaking and hilarious at the same time- I was laughing and crying. It gives such insight into his character and why he is so "stuck."

Great movie! I'm so glad I watched it. For all the Tenacious D fans out there, did you see Kyle?

I liked it, It wasn't a ten star movie or anything, but it also wasn't the horrible thing it's detractors make it out to be. Perhaps it was marketed wrong, but it was not intended to be a "Cheech and Chong" or "Half Baked" type comedy, what it was was a parody of the pretentious world of art and music wannabees. In this respect it hit its mark fairly well with a decent number of laughs as well as some sobering moments of the pifalls of associating with these unstable characters. The moment where Serena starts some God aweful singing while some clown is playing a sitar is dead on accurate as to what goes on at college parties frequented by the silly artsy fartsy crowd. I personally don't think "marijuana humor" is funny in the slightest, I got dragged to half baked and thought it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen and I also think Cheech and Chong were funniest when doing toilette humor rather than pot gags. There was quite a bit of drug use in this movie, but primarily the plot was about the dysfunctional relationship between two losers.
